How to Activate Labview with a 20 Character Activation Code
Labview is a graphical programming environment that allows you to create applications for data acquisition, analysis, and visualization. To use Labview, you need to activate it with a valid serial number and an activation code. An activation code is a 20-digit alphanumeric code that is specific to your computer, your software, and your serial number. For example: D9Q8-LYKM-LRMB-7WR2-F2DB[^1^].
In this article, we will show you how to generate and enter an activation code for Labview on an offline computer. If your computer has an internet connection, you can activate Labview online by following the instructions here[^2^].
Step 1: Find your computer ID, serial number, and product version
To generate an activation code for Labview, you need to know the following information about your offline computer:
The computer ID, which is a 16-character unique identifier for your computer. You can find the computer ID in the NI License Manager utility by selecting the Display Computer ID button or by selecting Display Computer ID in the Options menu. Learn how[^2^].
The serial number of your product, which is a nine-digit alphanumeric value located on the Certificate of Ownership, product packing slip, or from the âaboutâ menu of the application that you want to activate. Learn more about how to find your serial number[^2^].
The product version, which can be found on the product label, in the product documentation, or in NI License Manager. Note that activation codes are unique to the version of the software that they were generated for. For example, an activation code for Labview 2021 will not activate Labview 2022Q3 and an activation code for Labview 2020 SP1 will not activate Labview 2020.
Step 2: Generate an activation code online
On a computer with an internet connection, visit the NI Product Activation page[^3^]. Fill out the fields on this page with the information about the offline computer. It will generate an activation code valid for the offline computer only. You will need a separate activation code for each software product you would like to activate. If you cannot generate the activation code, contact NI Support and request an activation code.
Step 3: Enter the activation code on your offline computer
Now that you have your activation code(s) for your product(s), you can activate them on your offline computer either through NI License Manager or the NI Licensing Wizard within your product. While either method will end in product activation, using NI License Manager will be easier if you have multiple pieces of software (i.e. multiple activation codes) to input at once. Whereas, NI Licensing Wizard will be more straightforward if you only have one piece of software you would like to activate.
Using NI License Manager
Launch NI License Manager.
Click on Activate Software.
If you have not logged into your NI Account before, NI License Manager will prompt you to log in. Dismiss this notification by clicking on No internet connection Continue with offline activation.
Enter your Activation Code(s).
Click on Activate.
If your software activation was successful, you should see a window similar to the following image. Click on Finish.
Using the NI Licensing Wizard
Open the software you would like to activate (e.g. Labview 2022 Q3).
If it is not licensed yet, it will launch the NI Licensing Wizard.
If you have not logged in before, you will be prompted to log in for activation. You can dismiss that by clicking on No internet connection
