MARK STEWART: Let me try this and feel free to tell me what you think of it. There is MathType made by design science, dessci.com. Step back from the voice-recognition aspect for a second. Just picture, for example, Microsoft Word. Now wait a second, how do I write pretty come the key to looking formulas into Microsoft Word? Well, MathType is a program that helps you do that. As I was getting ready for this question, I was wondering whether I should throw it in and now I am. That idea of, if you had Dragon naturally speaking professional, you might be able to create some macros with it where you could take advantage of MathType as well and get it to do its thing. Does that make sense?
I wanted to write this article, so people could get to know me better as most of my connections on LinkedIn are aware I have a condition called cerebral palsy, which means I am wheelchair-bound and sometimes struggle with writing and drawing because of this, my early education was a bit of a struggle even though I went to a special education school. I found it hard to work in school and lessons were struggle because I sometimes couldn't type very fast and the computer. This was until I was 15 when I discovered the use of assistive technology and the ways it could help me moving forward . As I said I began to use assistive technology when I was 15 I first started using Dragon naturally speaking to help me with writing a art project on the artist Andy Goldsmith , where as before I would struggle to type using my hands with the use of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I was typing an essay of over 1000 words and I wasn't getting tired whilst doing it . It allowed me to put down my thoughts and feelings on paper and allow me to express my vocabulary because I was speaking the word instead of typing them . I then sat my GCSEs using a scribe and a reader, but in my college career and my university career. I made all of my lecturers aware that I would like to use assistive technology to help me move forward in my educational career as I would appreciate the freedom that particularly Dragon NaturallySpeaking gives me . I showed all of my lecturers what Dragon NaturallySpeaking gives me in terms of the freedom it allows me to use words that I would like to in sentences and it allows me to think for myself and be more productive and aided without the help of an assistant,
As well as the use of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I also used things like mind mapping software Siri for writing emails on my phone. I used a type of assistive technology that allows the computer to read to me, so if I had to do any research on the computer, it would just read me the extracts that I needed and I could put into words what I'd researched. I particularly like the mind mapping software inspiration because it would allow me to put down thoughts I had about a particular subject that I was writing about this piece of software was incredibly useful during my time at Portsmouth University because I could plan every one of my assignments using this piece of software . It became invaluable to me because it also allowed me to start my work unaided and gave me a jump on my assignments . It also gave me back some of my energy because I didn't have do use my energy up typing my assignments. I could just use a mixture of inspiration mind mapping software and Dragon naturally speaking to help me get my thoughts across.
I would just like to state that I was able to navigate to this page and post to reply using nothing but voice control on Apple, which is similar to dragon on the PC. I find the best way of using this is to know the command scroll up and scroll down as well as show numbers. 781b155fdc
